Fund Expansion
The Especially for You® Fund is helping even more people — thanks to YOU!
The Especially for You® (EFY) Race Against Breast Cancer has grown by leaps and bounds since that first race in 1991, and the EFY Fund has grown right alongside it. Your overwhelming support through the years has made it possible to expand the fund’s covered services today. In addition to breast cancer, the fund can now help fight female-specific cancers like ovarian, uterine, cervical, vulvar and vaginal cancers.
What other cancer types and services are now covered through the EFY Fund?
Along with breast cancer, EFY will now cover screenings and diagnostic testing for cervical, ovarian, uterine, vulvar and vaginal cancers.
Why is EFY expanding the cancer types covered by its funds?
The EFY Fund has provided more than 10,000 services to 5,000 individuals since its inception in 1991. We receive many requests from female patients who need financial assistance for early detection and screenings related to other female cancers. Thanks to the growth of EFY over the years, the fund is able to assist today, and we're happy to help expand support for women's health.
Does this mean there is less money available for breast cancer screenings?
No, breast care funds are not changed by this important growth at all and access is still very available. It’s the continued generosity of thousands who participate in the annual EFY race that has enabled the fund to extend screenings and services beyond only breast cancer to more types of female cancers.
Are there any changes to the financial qualifications for these new cancer types?
No, EFY will continue to follow the same financial guidelines regardless of the female cancer diagnoses.
How do I apply for the EFY Fund?
Applying for assistance is easy. Simply fill out an application, or call (319) 221-8889 for assistance.
When will funds be available to cover these new cancer types?
Right now. Dollars became available as of March 1, 2018.
Has the EFY race itself changed because of the fund expansion?
The EFY Race Against Breast Cancer has not changed at all as a result of the fund expansion. We continue our mission to provide increased access and support of early detection/prevention of breast cancer, which has the highest incidence rate, but will also be able to assist with female-specific cancers.
